How to Record a Google Business Profile Verification Video

How to Record a Google Business Profile Verification Video

Purpose

Google may require a video verification before allowing a business listing to be verified, claimed, or transferred to a new owner or manager.

This video helps Google confirm three things:

  1. The business is located where the listing says it is.
  2. The business is real and operating.
  3. The person submitting the video has authority to manage or represent the business.

Family Resource Group Inc. may request that someone at your location complete this video when Google requires additional verification for your listing.

Before You Start

Please read these instructions fully before recording.

The video must be recorded through the Google Business Profile verification screen on a mobile device. Do not record the video in your phone’s regular camera app and try to upload it later.

The video must be:

  • One continuous recording
  • Unedited
  • Clear and easy to see
  • At least 30 seconds long
  • Recorded and uploaded from a mobile device through the Google Business Profile verification process

We recommend aiming for 60 to 90 seconds so there is enough time to show everything clearly.

What You Need to Show

Google is looking for clear proof of the location, the business, and your authority to access or manage the location.

Your video should show the following:

1. The Outside of the Business

Start outside the location.

Show items that help Google confirm the physical location, such as:

  • The street
  • Building exterior
  • Street number
  • Suite number, if applicable
  • Nearby businesses
  • Shopping center or building signage
  • Landmarks near the business

Move slowly so the video is not blurry.

2. The Business Name or Signage

Show the business name as it appears at the location.

This may include:

  • Exterior sign
  • Door sign
  • Window sign
  • Wall sign
  • Suite sign
  • Branded materials near the entrance

The business name shown in the video should match the name on the Google Business Profile as closely as possible.

3. Enter the Business

Continue recording as you walk into the business.

Do not stop, pause, or restart the video.

If possible, show yourself unlocking the door or entering through an employee-access area. This helps prove you have access to the location.

4. Proof the Business Is Operating

Once inside, show items that prove the business is real and active.

Examples include:

  • Front desk or reception area
  • Lobby
  • Office or work area
  • Products
  • Equipment
  • Branded materials
  • Marketing materials
  • Business cards
  • Printed brochures
  • Company uniforms
  • Service vehicles
  • Tools or supplies used by the business

The goal is to show that this is an actual operating business, not just an address.

5. Proof of Management or Authorization

Google also wants to see that the person recording has permission to manage or represent the business.

Show one or more of the following:

  • Unlocking the front door
  • Opening an employee-only area
  • Opening a storage room
  • Accessing a register or point-of-sale system
  • Showing a business license
  • Showing a utility bill
  • Showing an invoice
  • Showing a permit
  • Showing branded internal materials
  • Showing an employee-only system or workspace

Be careful not to show private customer information, banking details, tax numbers, employee records, or anything confidential.

What Not to Show

Please do not include:

  • Customer faces
  • Employee faces, if avoidable
  • Customer records
  • Bank account information
  • Tax ID numbers
  • Personal identification documents
  • Private employee information
  • Medical, financial, or confidential client information
  • Computer screens with sensitive data

If you need to show a document, cover or avoid sensitive information. The business name and address should be visible, but private details should not be shown.

Here is the easiest way to record the video:

  1. Start outside the business.
  2. Show the street, building, and nearby businesses.
  3. Show the business sign, suite number, or address.
  4. Walk into the business while continuing to record.
  5. Show the lobby, office, workspace, equipment, or branded materials.
  6. Show proof of access, such as unlocking a door, opening an employee-only area, or showing a business document.
  7. End the video after all required items have been shown.

The video does not need to be fancy. It just needs to be clear, steady, and complete.

Simple Script You Can Follow

You do not have to speak in the video, but it can help. If you are comfortable narrating, you can say something like:

“Starting outside the business location. This is the building and surrounding area. Here is the business sign and address. I am now entering the location. This is our front desk and business area. Here are materials and equipment used by the business. I am showing proof that I have access to the location and authority to represent the business.”

Keep the video natural and simple.

Important Recording Tips

  • Record during daylight or in good lighting.
  • Move slowly.
  • Keep the phone steady.
  • Make sure signs and documents are readable.
  • Do not rush.
  • Do not stop and restart.
  • Do not edit the video.
  • Do not record in your phone’s camera app.
  • Record directly through the Google Business Profile verification screen.

If the video is interrupted, blurry, missing information, or recorded in the wrong place, it may be rejected by Google.

After You Upload the Video

Once the video is uploaded, Google will review it.

Family Resource Group Inc. will continue monitoring the listing status and will follow up if Google requests additional information or asks for the video to be recorded again.

If Google rejects the video, we may ask you to record a new one based on the reason Google provides.

Quick Checklist Before Recording

Before you start, confirm that you can show:

  • The outside of the business
  • Street number, suite number, or nearby location markers
  • Business signage or branded materials
  • The inside of the business
  • Proof the business is operating
  • Proof you have access or authority
  • No sensitive information
  • No customer or employee faces

Once all of these are ready, open the Google Business Profile verification screen on your mobile device and begin recording.
