Meta: Best Practices

A few principles the Geaux Grow social team leans on when building out Meta creative for FRG advertising partners:

General

  • We always recommend a mix of ad formats, such as video and static, to maximize reach and performance.
  • Creative should be optimized for mobile: vertical or square assets, shorter copy, and shorter video length.
  • Showcase your most important messaging at the very beginning of the copy and/or audio — keep it short, concise, and paired with a strong call to action.

Image Tips

  • Use high-resolution images: meet the minimum pixel size requirements and use the highest resolution available. Avoid overly photoshopped images.
  • Show your brand or logo: people engage more with brands they know or that show they're credible.
  • Show people using your product or service: this helps people visualize themselves doing so. It's effective to show people similar to your target audience in realistic settings.
  • Consider text overlays: if you add text to an image, it shouldn't obstruct the visuals. Use a modern, clean font in a large enough size with a contrasting color.
  • Focus on your message: keep the viewer's attention by cropping tightly around the important part of the image.
  • Consider colors, palettes, and filters: use colors appropriate for the content — bright tones for a summer sale, calming pastels for a spa, and so on.

Video Tips

  • Capture attention quickly: put the most compelling part of your video at the very beginning to grab interest — ideally within the first 3 seconds.
  • Consider video length: in general, keep videos short (under 15 seconds is ideal), though some placements support longer videos.
  • Use vertical or square video: most people hold their phones vertically, so a vertical or square aspect ratio covers the most screen area.
  • Feature your product or brand message early: capture attention quickly and showcase your brand identity right away so people see and remember it.
